I decided I liked SL, so I stayed. Unfortunately it is a potential money pit.
Solution: make money in SL.
Task: make a product that people would like to use in SL and sell it.
Requirements: Learn LSL, learn animations, ...requiring to know how SL works from a devs point of view.
Operations: Go to school and learn all of this...there are none. Hire sub-contractors to do the work for you...blew L$90k for a guy that has been mostly non-existent
Current Status: Learned LSL from chatGPT (2 weeks) yay! Learning animations from Blender, QAvimator, BVHacker, and Darkstorm. Trying to figure out how to make animations without buying a $200 software. So here I am, balls-deep in hacker apps and cr infringement to learn how all this works.
Project Status: 90% complete
Current Activity: looking for some aspirin

If you want to do animations use Avastar we have the program on here all you need to do is rank up. To get access. Also here's a tutorial how to do it. Sorry that you got scammed it's best not to pay people for things until they deliver the work also ask for a portfolio before.

Hey there, welcome aboard the personal gateway to madness... I mean *creative freedom* 😎
Glad you stuck around in SL — we all thought we’d just peek in and now here we are, 3 weeks later, halfway to building the Metaverse, eating instant noodles, and wondering where our L$ went...
Sorry to hear you ran into one of *those* subcontractors. L$90k? Man, that hurts more than Blender crashing mid-weight paint. But respect for not giving up — you turned that frustration into fuel and dove head-first into LSL, Blender, BVHacker, and all the glorious chaos. Two weeks to learn scripting from ChatGPT? That’s honestly baller. Hats off. 🧠🔥
Animations? Tricky, yep. $200 software? Nah. Don’t even. Luckily, our good dude Bishop already nailed it — Avastar is the tool, and yes, we’ve got it here. Rank up a bit and it’s yours (plus a tutorial to get ya started).
Also: Bishop’s right — never pay up front without work samples. Portfolio or GTFO. Think of it like dating but with scripts and rigging involved.
Anyway, you’re 90% done? That’s further than most people ever get. The aspirin is temporary. The dopamine rush when it finally works? That’s forever. 🧪
So yeah, big welcome again — you’ve already earned your place. Keep going, you’re almost there.
And if you need help? You know where to poke us (hopefully not with a sharp prim).

Hi showbis, and all
Yeah so part of what I do is piece out large jobs to various contractors. The guy passed legit as far as a coder goes, it was just the the excuse of rl coming up and working two jobs magically appeared out of nowhere. I have a lot of respect for peeps that spend years developing hardcore skills in any field, but sometime you gotta say "Hey you know you just got out-performed by a casual gamer who has *name of someody not related to CBC* coding experience yeah?". And to be totally honest, chatGPT has been instrumental in learning LSL. As a matter of fact, I've developed the whole project using chatGPT. The conversation has carried on for weeks now to the point where I call it CG for short and it calls me bossman (freaky I know).
You live and you learn...what can I say.
For the animations phase (for anyone else in the same doesn't-know-s**t condition I'm in) , I bought some baseline animations from various vendors, and got some others via email from another player. These anim files I ran through Anim2BVHbento (free downloadable tool), did minor tweaks, run it through BVHacker, and then run it through QAvimator. It works great with basic skeletons, so you have to delete all of the fingers and extra joints that bento has (again didnt even know what bento was at this point).
I'd be totally cool flat-out buy Avastar (reminds me of an class I took in 2001 for 3D Studio Max), but from what I understand its a plug-in for Blender. The issue being I'm stuck with Blender 2.83 and I have no idea if Avastar will work with it (my pc doesnt like msi installation files so I cant use the newer versions of Blender).
For anyone else reading this, I've realized SL is basically a black hole of creativity. Its like "here is some base code, pay me to play it, and all you players finish the development...and pay me to upload your work too, but you cant get it back"
With enough work, I will release this thing by the end of May

Hi there, when I saw your username I said to myself no more spam for today, please
It's true that some people have hardcore skills * we over the years met and been with some brilliant minds.
Others are more casual players, and this happens in real life too. And that is also fine as long as you deliver.
One thing we all must admit, is that AI is here to stay.
It performs exceptionally well, and anyone who says otherwise hasn't realized that the ship has already sailed.
Regarding Avastar and Blender, the last time I checked, it was still compatible with Blender 3.x version.
I believe a compatible version with Blender 4 is about to be released, but we've been hearing many promises.
Either way, it is a great tool.
I love AI because if you tell him he is your uncle, he will also call you nephew
Welcome to CBC personalgateway I hope you like it here 'bossman'
and avastar may be be around the corner
Cheers!
