Well, hello!

Hello, everybody!

It's nice to finally be a member here! I've heard lots of good and cool things about this forum. Hopefully my skills and resources will be of good use for this community. I'm open to sharing everything I know, and every piece of software that I have with you guys! Blush

While I'm not really used to copybotting (yet), and I'm far (in my opinion, at least) from being a "real" developer, I have skills and knowledge in repairing, tweaking and even hacking things. I already made two patches that resolve some small issues in the DarkStorm viewer (hopefully I will be able to share them here soon). In real life, I'm an IT and electronics technician. I do this since 2008. It's my hobby and also my job. But more than that, I'm a casual gamer... and a curious friendly geek! Smile

All being said, I'm happy to be here, and looking forward for great experiences!

Hey there Goku95

Welcome to the copybot.club forum!

It’s great to see someone with such a wide range of skills and interests joining us. Your experience in IT and electronics will definitely be valuable around here. As a fellow electronics enthusiast, I totally get how working on projects can be a great stress reliever—nothing like some time at the soldering station (and maybe a burn or two) to take the stress away! Wink

Looking forward to seeing your contributions, especially those DarkStorm patches.

If you ever want to bounce ideas around or need a hand, don't hesitate to ask.

Glad to have you with us and since you gave away what you do now you owe me a drink  Tongue

Cheers,
showbis Cool

Haha showbis, since you're dealing with electronics too, it means we speak the "same language" as fellow electronics enthusiasts!

I'm more like a dinosaur with soldering through, I don't get along well with modern soldering stations... I only use an old soldering gun from the 70's, with a kind of thick tip that's made of a piece of copper wire. And belive it or not, I even use it for soldering SMD components! Crazy huh? It looks like a big black pistol, I can show it to you if you want! It's a lovely and vintage piece of equipment, that I think already has the collectible status (it's VERY old and rugged). Big Grin

Thanks for the support and the welcoming, I will surely ask here on the forum. After all, it's all about helping and sharing ideas, right?

And about that drink: if we ever meet in real life, you'll get it! Wink

Welcome!
Based on what you have said, it seems like you know your way around the internals of SL viewers.
If you ever want something else to work on or mess around with, I am working on an open-source copybot viewer here: https://forum.copybot.club/thread-17215.html

And if my assumption is incorrect and you only know a little, I would definitely be willing to each you the little that I know too!

Hi, huggypie!

Even through I'm a newbie when it comes to SL related stuff (I'm in the process of learning about LSL scripting language, the way SL viewers and SL itself work etc.), I do know how to do quite a few other technical stuff, especially reverse engineering, in-place resource patching and editing (that's how I fixed two issues in the DarkStorm viewer, patches comming soon here on the forum btw).

I'm an electronics and IT technician in RL and quite a geek Big Grin, I'm madly in love with what I do, since it's my hobby and also the thing that I do for my living. Sometimes I also mess with kernels, DLLs, tweaking, localization of certain programs, other crazy projects, and when I can and know how to do it: fixing and patching. I have a server (the real kind, with a server OS) running at my home 24/7 (quite noisy and warm during summer in that room haha), so I may have some extra knowledge about networking, web servers, web sites etc. But if there is anything I can help with, I will gladly do it! Smile

Thanks for the invitation, I'll have a look at your thread, and maybe we can collaborate at some point for Huggystorm!
