Thoughts of a Quarantined Mind Part I
#1
For a few months now I have been wondering if it is possible to stress an object (Vía scripting or such) belonging to another person in order to make it disappear from the sim.
like an exploding balloon full of air. But to stress one object would be to stress the whole sim as well. (I guess) Sorry, I'm a little delirious. Maybe  @ jagiwig920  can have some answers?

Lol I should rename myself to Exploit Counselor. I'd say it depends on the object.

I like to randomly check objects when I move around, checking scripts and permissions. Some objects have permissions set to Anyone which allows you to move stuff around. I once stumbled upon a region who had set all their permissions to Anyone. I re-arranged the entire sim and even moved a bed around with a naked couple, doing the naughty Wink

Sometimes you can join the group assigned to the object and get special privileges to manage the objects in the sim.
Which may include managing security orbs and access to menu's of other objects.
In the unlikely event the owner was stupid enough to give land management access to all members, you now have the right to return objects of other users.

Finally there is Brain Muscle:
With years of experience you will learn certain objects or scripts are exploitable in advance it only makes your job easier.
Usually vehicles and physical objects are not protected and can be driven or flown around.
Other objects have self-destruct commands or other annoyingly exploitable commands that can be used by anyone, including touch-menus.

There maybe other attack vectors that I don't know about, but this is my limited experience in this field.

I hope this was insightful.

PS: Maybe you can tell us more of what you are trying to achieve

Thanks Jig, it wasn't what I had in mind, but it's a good start. I was using as a house an abandoned sim, until a shithead one came and started rezzing dildos and stupidities, by that time I didn't have any filler to avoid that, and that's why I started to wonder if there wasn't some way to eliminate other people's items.

The only way to deal with that is report them to Linden Lab.
But then again you have to be sure the screenshot doesn't show any proof you are using a copybot viewer.

I think you know that LL doesn't give importance to reports, unless you are premium (and that's it) I have reported a lot of people for pedophilia, and there they go, with their accounts intact.

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to show you how a ban email looks like informing about Account Closure.
If you read the wording carefully you can see it says that there were repeated violations.
So I assume Linden Lab doesn't act on the first report, they probably keep a archive of reports before they put a account on hold

Quote:Hello *** Resident,

We regret to inform you that Linden Lab has terminated your access to the Second Life virtual world. Because the evidence shows that you have severely and repeatedly violated the Second Life Terms & Conditions and Community Standards regarding disturbing the peace on an account owned by you, all of your accounts are now permanently inaccessible.
Per the Terms & Conditions, you may not return to Second Life on any account, new or existing.

What is Linden Lab's policy on disturbing the peace?

Every Resident has a right to live their Second Life. Under our Community Standards policy, interfering with that right by griefing, assaulting, spamming, caging, or otherwise impeding another Resident's enjoyment of the Second Life experience may be considered disturbing the peace. When detected, individuals and groups engaging in harassment may be subject to escalating sanctions, ultimately resulting in termination of accounts, closure of groups, removal of content, and loss of land or access to land if the behavior does not cease.

There are three categories of disturbing the peace which are breaches of the Community Standards:
(1) Visually impairment of another resident's experience through the use of scripted objects, visual spam, graphics crashers, deformers, etc.
(2) Preventing textual communications via unsolicited advertising content or spam
(3) Intentional generation of lag, sim crashes, server impedance, decreased computer performance, etc.

Unfortunately, an account owned by you has been determined to have been used to disturb the peace, and, despite repeated sanctions, or because of severe violations, you therefore may no longer engage in any aspect of the Second Life service.

This concludes our investigation of your appeal. You may not return to Second Life on any account, new or existing. Please consider the matter resolved, as no further communications will be sent.

Sincerely,

Dakota Linden
Account Specialist
Linden Lab

Oh and fun fact they get to keep your Lindens also when you get banned.

Very good information, thanks for sharing this email, I will keep it in mind. Perhaps to give more power to a report, we may want to create several accounts (VPN in between) and let them join for a few months so we can continue to report on the person.

Always screenshot your evidence. But be careful not to incriminate yourself in your own evidence.
Make sure it's not visible you use a copybot-viewer and don't copy paste AR messages.
Because they may see it all coming from one account and ban them all for creating false reports
